Zidane

Okay, if you saw the World Cup, you saw this. If not...this is the star of the French team....losing it.

Zidane is not only the star, but the captain of he team. He showed no self control, but it should be pointed outthat the Italian player said something pretty nasty to him.

Trash talking is part of the game. Head-butting on the other hand...either way, it's still a great clip.

This is why I love sports. Well not really, but things like this are much more intersting than the actual game play, at least that's what I think. It's pretty lame that they're both these great atheletes and they act like kids on a playground when they both surely know that the whole world's watching them. If it had been me (Don't anyone dare laugh at the idea of me being an athelet, I choose the life of frail weakness) I would have just sent one of those messages made out of cut up newspaper, like "Eat *removed for sake of Blog Rules of Conduct* and die!

Indeed Laura, I may not be nice, but I try to be honest. That's pretty sweet about your jacket, I too love sales of all kinds, but it's kind of my undoing, if I even remotely want something and it's on some totally small sale I'll buy it because I'm like oh no it will never be this cheap again, I'm kind of a sucker that way.

Okay, got some news on diplomas. The problem is that the compnies who create them wish to accomadate the bigger schools, as in 200+ grads, first. A class of 11...well...we have to wait 'til the end.

The french have never been ones to be associated with the word victory. Too bad the team captain wasn't a Corsican or a woman. Then they might have stood a fighting chance.

Yeah, except the World Cup they WON a few years back...it's not much, but it's something that neither the great fighting and victorious United States nor the mighty imperialistic England have come close to in a long time.

Sure, Zidane did something incomprehensibly stupid, and yes, he is French (though of Algerian descent), but he still won the award as the best player in the World Cup.

Personally I was happy Italy won--and so was an Italian family at church. They went absolutely CRAZY.
But I must say, it was a pretty lousy way to win a World Cup.

I think you misunderstood...Italy won on penalty kicks, right? So, you wait four years to play in the World Cup, you battle through qualifiers, you make it to the Mecca of sport--the World Cup final. You bleed all over the field to win for your country, running for hours on end, neck and neck with some of the best players in the world. The game goes to overtime, where eveything suddenly becomes desperate and your entire team has to buckle down. And then the game comes down to a penalty kicks. One guy against a goalie. For everything. It seems exciting when you write it out, but...

I know games could go on to infinity if you just kept on playing overtimes and all the players would probably collapse from fatigue, but it just seemed rather anticlimatic. A goalie could make a save 9 times out of 10, but that doesn' matter because the one time he let it in l;ost the entire match.

Like I said, I'm glad that Italy won. Huzzah.

But I must say that my favorite part of the video is when the French announcer says, "Pourquoi? Pourquoi?"....Poor chap.

The fact is, Zidane isn't even French, he's Algerian. We got to watch the game at the house of one of the Arab friends of the people we're staying with. We all wanted Italy except one person in our group, and Italy was clearly the better team.

You know what Algeria reminds me of right? Ethiopia, Liberia, and Mali... so now I'm gonna be singing the Africa song all day long. This is just great. And yes Laura W. the announcer saying Pourquoi is pretty funny. Speaking of French, I just registered yesterday at SOU and I get to skip all college french bcause I had four consecutive years, so good thing I didn't bail for Greek (Andrew Hamilton and I were talking about the whole two language situation the other day especially the paper thin walls between classes...if you know what I mean.) Also I get 8 of the 12 required credits for Social Studies for passing the AP exam, I was like YEAH! Seriously though, I'm excited for Fall, I don't even star until September 25.

I start the 25th too. But because I'm in a common-place Community College, I don't think I get any credit for AP. Darn it...And yes, those paper-thin walls were annoying. At least Andrew feels our pain.

When will you get out for the summer Laura? I'm bumming because I'll have to go see Pirates 3 and Spider-Man 3 without my family since I'll still be in school all of May.
